Consumers National Bank Overdraft Policy

Our goal at Consumers National Bank is to help our customers manage their finances wisely. We want to explain our overdraft procedures to you and inform you of some ways you can avoid costly overdraft fees.*

Payment Order

We pay items in the following order:

  • Credits are posted before debits
  • ATM and Debit Card transactions based on time stamp
  • ACH items smallest to largest amount
  • Checks in number sequence

Overdraft Fee

When you overdraw your account, you will be charged a Non-Sufficient Funds (NSF) fee of $32.00. You may receive a NSF fee up to four items per day. (There is no limit on the number of NSF items per day for business accounts.) Each time the same item is resubmitted against insufficient funds, a separate NSF fee will be assessed. If a business account remains overdrawn for four consecutive business days, you will be charged $7.00 on that day and on every fourth business day afterwards. There is no limit on the number of times the consecutive fee may be charged for business accounts.

Savings Transfer Fee

If you have set up Overdraft Protection by having a transfer from your savings account made to your checking account, you will not be charged a fee to transfer between accounts.

Here Are Four Simple Ways to Prevent Overdrafts and Lower Fees:

  1. Track your balances, deposits, and spending habits carefully.
  2. Sign up for text message alerts to warn you when your balance is getting low. You can sign up by visiting www.consumers.bank and selecting Enroll Now to register for online banking.
  3. Link a savings account to your checking account so money can be automatically transferred to avoid overdrawing your account.
  4. Consider opting out of Overdraft Protection on your debit and ATM transactions. You can opt out by visiting www.consumers.bank selecting Other Online Services then selecting Overdraft Protection Options.
