Consumers National Bank Opens New Branch In Brewster

Minerva, Ohio—Consumers National Bank celebrated the opening of its newest full-service office in Brewster, Ohio with a ribbon cutting ceremony and reception attended by Stark County Commissioner Richard Regula, Brewster Mayor Mike Schwab, bank directors and Officers, and representatives from the Massillon WestStark Chamber of Commerce and the Community Bankers Association of Ohio. The new location marks the bank’s 15th branch in its network.

brewster 1Laurie McClellan, Chairman of Consumers Bancorp, Inc. welcomed community members to the ribbon cutting ceremony and provided a brief introduction of the bank saying that the bank’s original mission in 1965 was to better serve small businesses, agriculture and the citizens of Minerva and that it is Consumers Bank’s intention to continue this mission in Brewster.

Ralph J. Lober, II, President & CEO of Consumers National Bank introduced the directors, guests and the bank officers and employees who will serve the personal, business, and agricultural customers in Brewster and surrounding area.  He said that the local staff, and senior management will be accessible and promised that the Consumers Bank team will deliver beyond expectations by making a difference in the Brewster area by investing local deposits back into the community, by being present and by giving their time and energies into your organizations and schools.  “This is where local matters,” he told the gathering.

Aza Bittinger, Chief Operating Officer of Community Bankers Association of Ohio in Columbus remarked to the gathering that where you bank matters because community banks invest in, employ and serve in local communities.

Mel Herncane, President of the Massillon WestStark Chamber of Commerce welcomed Consumers National Bank to the western Stark community and as the newest chamber member saying that the chamber does everything it can to make its members successful and Consumers Bank is no exception.

brewster 2Mike Schwab, Mayor of the Village of Brewster acknowledged the bank saying that “wow and awesome” are the two words that come to mind regarding Consumers National Bank due to the bank’s exceptionally fast opening of the Brewster office and bank management’s desire to bring a full service bank to the community.

Richard Regula, Commissioner of the Board of Stark County Commissioners referenced his family’s long history of involvement with local community banks and the importance to his business of working with a bank with the small town feel that is vital to the community.

“Opening this new office in Brewster enables Consumers National Bank to serve new personal, business, and agricultural customers in southeastern Stark County, as well as portions of Holmes, Tuscarawas and Wayne counties. By expanding into Brewster, we are demonstrating our commitment to bringing community banking to under-served, but viable markets,” said Ralph J. Lober, II, president and CEO of Consumers National Bank.

The new location will bring three full-time jobs to the area. Johanna (Jo) Lyon, the new Brewster Relationship Manager, has many years of banking experience. As a nearby Beach City resident herself, she brings knowledge of the local market to her position. “I am very excited to be working with my neighbors and local business associates again. As a local community bank, Consumers National Bank will provide the personalized customer service that Brewster residents will appreciate,” said Lyon.

The Brewster facility includes a traditional bank lobby, two drive-up teller lanes, enhanced deposit ATM, night deposit, and safe deposit boxes. In addition to checking accounts, the office will also provide consumer loans, mortgages, commercial and agricultural loans.

Consumers National Bank was established by local business people in Minerva, Ohio, in 1965. Since that time, the bank has expanded beyond Stark to Carroll and Columbiana counties taking its philosophy of community banking and knowledgeable, personalized service to these markets. The bank, now at $545 million in assets, is the largest community bank headquartered in Stark County and holds a five-star (superior) Bauer Financial bank rating.
